Specimen A - Exodus

Specimen A
Exodus

Label: Funkatech

Celebrating our dodecagenarian status Funkatech return with a fearlessly storming release from the bespectacled breakbeat masterminds that are Specimen A. Following previous outings on Broke, Emcee Recordings & the infectiously funky Blow Ya Head on Funkatech alongside our very own MC Incyte, the lads (aka Phil, Mo & Dan) step up a gear this time round for a driving heads down breakbeat workout.
Exodus has been smashing up de dance all over for a while now with strong support from tearout maestros Control-Z (Funkatech/Hardcore Beats) among others. It’s electro-inspired beats are matched with old-skool-hardcore-you-know-the-score pads, slightly scary samples from '28 Days Later' and a bassline that's grimier a rush-hour journey on the Northern Line in mid-August. We have the proof… this tune will make even the one-legged do the one foot skank!
Fresh from a solid roadtesting on the Autobots recent US tour Check the Sound has been blowing up clubs from Brooklyn to Bracknell for the the last couple of months, with its audacious distorted bass, punky vocals, electro-breakish beats and impossibly cheeky synth lines. Do ya wanna hear some fuuuuunkkk? These kids have got so much groove they make Jamiroquai look about as funky as John Major on a drizzly Thursday morning. Yes, Spec A may look like a pair of twentysomething white kids from High Wycombe, but we have absolute, incontrovertible evidence of a direct blood relationship between them and Stevie Wonder. Just listen to the synth riffs dammit! This is definite peak-time goodness - play and enjoy.
